This is all due to their <strong>sustainability<\/strong> and to <strong>consumers&#8217; renewed awareness<\/strong> about <strong>environmental issues<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This growth is confirmed by a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.expertmarketresearch.com\/reports\/hemp-clothing-market\">report by Expert Market Research dedicated to the global hemp clothing market<\/a>, which reached a value of nearly <strong>$3.19 billion<\/strong> in <strong>2023<\/strong>. And it is set to grow even more: forecasts indicate about <strong>$26.66 billion<\/strong> by <strong>2032<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In short, <strong>hemp fibre<\/strong> appears destined to play a <strong>key role<\/strong> in the <strong>future of fashion<\/strong>. But why? <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-i-tessuti-in-fibra-di-canapa-sono-piu-sostenibili\">Hemp fibre fabrics are more sustainable<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The main reason <strong>hemp fibre<\/strong> is a <strong>sustainable material<\/strong> can be found in the <strong>plant&#8217;s characteristics<\/strong>. Hemp is a <strong>hardy<\/strong> plant that is easily grown because it adapts well to many <strong>different climates<\/strong>, requires <strong>less pesticides<\/strong> as it is harmed less by <strong>plant diseases<\/strong>, enriches the soil in which it grows, and consumes <strong>little water<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, the hemp plant is notable for its <strong>remarkably fast growth<\/strong>, just 3-4 months, and a <strong>significantly higher yield<\/strong> compared to other plants grown for the textile industry. On an equal amount of soil, hemp produces approximately 250% more fibre than cotton and 600% more than flax. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-tutte-le-proprieta-dei-tessuti-in-fibra-di-canapa\">All the properties of hemp fibre fabrics<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Just like the plant it comes from; <strong>hemp fibre fabric<\/strong> is very <strong>hard-wearing<\/strong> and is used to make <strong>robust and durable garments<\/strong>. It also has an excellent ability to absorb colour and retain it over time. This means that hemp fibre clothing <strong>deteriorates more slowly<\/strong> and counteracts the tendency of overconsumption.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hemp fibre clothes also have <strong>many other characteristics<\/strong> that make them preferable to others made of different materials:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>antifungal properties<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>antibacterial properties<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>high breathability<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>fast drying<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After processing, hemp fibre fabric tends to have a slightly rough texture, which is why some brands like to mix softer fibres such as cotton or silk. However, pure hemp fibre <strong>softens with washing and use <\/strong> and gradually improves its usability. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-gli-ostacoli-legislativi-da-superare\">Legal barriers to be overcome<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>growth of the hemp fibre market<\/strong> is not without its pitfalls and the biggest issue is <strong>legal barriers<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In <strong>some countries<\/strong>, <strong>cultivation<\/strong> is <strong>banned<\/strong> due to the <strong>similarity between hemp and cannabis<\/strong>. Botanically speaking, the <strong>two plants<\/strong> belong to the <strong>same family<\/strong> but, unlike cannabis, the concentration of psychotropic substances in hemp remains below the legal threshold.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This distinction is not always adequate to legitimise the cultivation of one variety while still banning the other, and this is what the future of hemp fibre clothing depends on.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-la-coltivazione-della-canapa-come-opportunita-per-il-territorio\">Hemp cultivation as an opportunity for the territory<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Hemp cultivation<\/strong> is good for the earth but also for the territories. It would <strong>boost the local economy<\/strong> in many areas. It could promote not only <strong>thriving agriculture<\/strong> but also an <strong>ecosystem of businesses<\/strong> necessary for the <strong>textile chain<\/strong>, which would <strong>benefit<\/strong> the entire <strong>community<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are deeply sensitive to this issue because <strong>M&amp;A Export<\/strong> is based in <strong>Ivrea<\/strong>, in the <strong>Canavese<\/strong> area, which traditionally lived for a long time on the <strong>cultivation of plants for weaving<\/strong>, especially cotton and <strong>hemp<\/strong>. Enhancing the <strong>area&#8217;s vocation<\/strong> once again would mean restoring its <strong>vitality<\/strong> and laying the foundations for a genuine <strong>recovery<\/strong>, which, after the end of the Olivetti era, has yet to take place. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-conclusioni\">Conclusions<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Sustainability in fashion<\/strong>, as we have repeatedly mentioned, is a <strong>goal to be achieved collectively<\/strong>. It requires the <strong>commitment of many different stakeholders<\/strong>, including institutions, so we must hope for more <strong>forward-thinking legislation<\/strong>.
