Concurrently, clothing imports into the EU have increased by 14%<\/a> over the same period, putting pressure on our market<\/strong>, mainly due to competition from fast fashion generally from China and South-East Asia<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n

Stricter sustainability rules<\/h2>\n\n

Companies must comply with tighter environmental standards<\/strong>. From 2026<\/strong>, for example, the ban on destroying unsold garments and accessories will come into force<\/strong>, as provided for in Ecodesign Directive<\/a>, which we have already discussed on our blog. <\/p>\n\n

Complying with these rules entails additional costs<\/strong> but also offers competitive advantages<\/strong>, because standard-compliant products can be better valued even in secondary markets.<\/p>\n\n
